gold

I was not tired, so just took pictures of my hotel room, working in Reading, PA
the blossom over by the Mann music center, tress from the 1876 fair.
in the dirt of a mill, giant things, heavy, hot, sharp.

this is my life, well... some pictures of the past days.  I'm tired out by life, riding hard, working hard, and I guess if you know me, then you know that that is what makes me happy.

a long weekend in WVa, riding with the team at the Raw Talent Ranch.  miles of climbs, tough, good

I wanna live, a majestic life, and in some ways, some times of my life, the act of living is completely majestic.

....I think about the climb, and there is no way to really remember the climb, the battle to go up, to make the bike roll on,.... there,.....and then,... or simply grabbing a few beers from the basement fridge and carrying out to the bon fire, handing 'em out to the ones with empties.

flipped up

Ljiljana and I headed to the city.  To arrive in time, prompt.

to a perverted place, not sexually.

but by personality.

and a man, rushed by, gruff.  Wearing a cloud of cologne.

left us standing, outside, waiting, ... and waiting is the worst thing to do to me.... cause I can't see the end.

I turned to my wife, her shivering, and said lets go home.

We did.

this place, the Hop Sing Laundromat, it has a feature, all these pennies facing down, but one, it faces up,

and that's done so you'll look for it.

I'm a bit scared of the Hilly Billy race, today I rode 69.8 miles to see how it feels.

at mile 58 I sat, and drank a coke and a bottle of water, ate a toasted bagel, from the food cart park at the exit point of wissahickon.   I listened to the water, over the stones,  I a bit burnt.  and each time I came to an end of a thought, the sound and volume of the water, it seemed to change.

Lee, the cologne cloud from hop sing asked what he could do to make it up to me,....  well really there is nothing, Ljiljana had a nice night, It wasn't dependent on his hole.  So while sitting, as the water rolled by, I thought I'd throw myself a 50th birthday party.  8-22  and I'd ask Lee to attend. that's what I'd like from the cologne cloud.

We will do shots, all my friends.

the last bit of my ride, my tire grew soft, the rear. I just stood, put my weight over the front, and pedaled home.

I knew I was short of 70.

cheers, david.

classy

I've found that shutting my mouth, listening a bit and showing you some respect, gets me somewhere.

did the Spring Classic stage 2 today, double flatted in the first bit, freaked me out a bit, then at the hot dog cart rest stop, pulling a bar outta my panino pocket, I noticed I had one more tube.  Not too many places left to pinch flat, so I could pick it up a bit.  a good ride.   Phila. Spring Classic is a good ride.

Friday on the way home from work, Ljiljana and I, we were working on the same job, pulled outta the rush hour congestion and stopped at BELL's MARKET.  its a Russian place, like everyone speaks and acts russian there, and its full of Russian foods.   Lots of strange, exotic things, cause you can't read the labels.  I go for the pickles and breads, Ljiljana goes for the sweets.

and if I can, I'll come around you, and keep you outta the wind.  I'm a minion.  I lust to toil.   and in the end. the reward might not be victory, but a full and contented life.

Cheers, and a classy classic Spring Classic today.  d.

points

nothing better than to look at the world a bit, stop a bit, sip coffee, drink beer, sit in the sun.
I do a bunch of riding by myself,

This ugly behind the gas station Stop and Shop is one of my favorite places to chill.
Got a big ride in, some 85 miles or so.  about 60 miles in I like to stop here.  Hit up the bathroom, refuel, snacks, candy, coke.
The temp. was in the mid 40's,  but back here in the sun, almost 75.
I took off my shoes, and leaned back.
Then pounded the pedals back to philly.

Last night I hit up the Points race.  I'd gotten home from work around 4:30, took care of the home chores and it hit me, go try the points race.   I rode over to the course.   A short course run in the dark and few street lights.  It was a bit unsettling to ride in a fast moving pack, following wheels in the dark, but I caught on.   Its nice, the first time blowing out the legs a bit.   I felt good, and had fun.

The sprint line is up the drive to the Macpherson house Mount Pleasant.  To most just another old building, not to me, I've toured it a couple of times, and always like to sit out back, when I get a chance and enjoy the view.   So that's what I did last night before the ride started.      I've heard names and history stories as a kid, like the ones about Benedict Arnold, ... he lived in Mount Pleasant in the 1799's--

I tried to imagine the overlapping of the two worlds.  Arnold coming out the front door of his house, sitting on the steps, sipping a brandy and watching the gear restricted sprints, of the points training race.

cheers, d.
